APPLICATION FOR APPRENTICESHIP

The minimum qualifications for application include the following:

  • Age: an applicant must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. Proof of age is required.
  • Physical: An applicant must be able to perform the essential job functions of the trade.
  • Education: Applicants need sufficient education to satisfactorily complete on the job training and related instruction. A high school diploma or GED is recommended. Transcripts of vocational or related education may improve applicants ranking.
  • Work Records: Records of previous work experience may improve the applicant's ranking. Resumes and letters from previous employers are recommended.
  • Veteran's Discharge Papers: If applying for VA benefits, discharge papers are required.

Once an applicant has made an application and is qualified to be eligible for apprenticeship, the applicant may be selected from the ranking list as described in the standards. Also, an individual may seek an apprentice job with participating employers and be indentured through the "Intent to Hire". An apprentice is indentured when he/she begins their first apprentice job.
