WINDOW DUES are the dues that you pay each month to your local. DUES CHECK-OFF are the dues deducted from your paycheck when you are working. If you do not work then no dues check-off is deducted, but you must continue to pay your window dues. You can either pay these window dues at your local’s monthly union meeting or mail the money, along with your dues card to:
Local 1564 642 East “A” Street, Casper, WY. 82601.
Dues must be paid in a timely manner, after 3 months of non-payment you are in arrears. You will remain in arrears until you have paid for all of your back months and for the present month. If you do not pay your dues for 6 consecutive months you will be dropped from the union.
Window dues are:
| APPRENTICE |
$20.00 per month |
| JOURNEYMAN |
$20.00 per month |
| RETIRED (Local retired) |
$14.80 per month |
| PENSION (UBC retired) |
$6.00 per month |
| LIFETIME (50 year member) |
$0.00 per month |
Dues check-off is currently set at 4% in the Council. This is figured on your base rate + vacation total. Dues check-off is figured into the taxable amount of your check, and then deducted and paid to the Council by your employer. Dues are deductible on your taxes at the end of the year.
VACATION FUND
Instead of a paid vacation, which is almost unheard of in construction, the Carpenters Union in Wyoming has instead set up a vacation fund on your behalf. This fund works somewhat like a savings account for you. For every hour that you work under a Commercial or Industrial contract, the contractors pay you $1.00 for your vacation. This is added to your paycheck, taxed, and then deducted and sent into the Trust Fund that manages this account for you. The plan year for this account runs from October 1st through September 30th of every year, and that money becomes payable to you in November of that year.
